Camp Cedar Cliff Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions about New Organization
Is Camp Cedar Cliff affiliated with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association? When BGEA decided not to continue its youth camp ministry in 2006, camp director Hugh Wright's calling to serve God through reaching kids did not change. As he prayed and planned, God opened the door for BGEA to sell the property and for the camp ministry to continue virtually unchanged from previous years. Now Camp Cedar Cliff, the 314-acre camp set within a 1500-acre property, is independently run and reopening for campers the summer of 2007. We are the same people with the same vision and the same dedication to your child and your child's relationship with God.
Why not "The Cove Camp"? Because of its status as a new organization, Camp Cedar Cliff legally must have a new name. Cedar Cliff was selected because the Cove rests in the nook between Little Cedar and Big Cedar Mountain. Many camp activities, including rappelling down our cliff site occur on Little Cedar, where, yes, many cedar trees are growing. It is a fitting name that’s history draws on the influence and meaning of the Cove while its newness reflects the originality and innovation in this new venture.
"Thus says the Lord God: "I will take also one of the highest branches of the high cedar and set it out. I will crop off from the utmost of its young twigs a tender one, and will plant it on a high and prominent mountain. On the mountain height of Israel I will plant it; and it will bring forth bough, and be a majestic cedar. Under it will dwell birds of every sort; in the shadow of its branches they will dwell" Ezekiel 17:22-23
Do the staff still work for the BGEA? Camp Cedar Cliff, Inc. is it’s own 501 (c) (3) non-profit ministry. The Camp Cedar Cliff staff no longer work for the BGEA, but their commitment to camp ministry has not changed.
